DePaul Students, Faculty, and other Staff Professionals:
You know those moments when you’re at a stand still and realize that everything that’s to come will never be like anything you’ve ran across before? It’s not a bad feeling, but you know, you’ve reached that next level, that higher plateau you’ve been reaching for and finally were able to lift yourself up.
I have now reached that mark.
I am honored to say that tonight I was elected as the President of Residence Hall Council. I had a lot of support and am very thankful for my friends and family who were around to keep me level before, during, and after such a life-changing decision. I know that I will continue to work to my highest level of professionalism to deliver the residents of DePaul University (and especially UAC until the end of the year) when transitioning into next year’s new roles.
When it comes down to it, the Presidency isn’t about me and what I have accomplished; it’s about the Executive Board, the Senate, and the mountain of others who help make up the RHC body that makes this a truly worthwhile victory. I am so grateful to be looking ahead to next year with such a great E-Board in tact, prime to add new ones in a few weeks. We have a lot to be pumped about.
Again, I cannot stress the overwhelming feeling I have towards the people who showed up and voted tonight. I am walking on Cloud 9, and you have allowed this to be possible. I owe you all my best when it comes to this position….and a hug.
Residence Hall Council has been a part of my life for the past three years in a variety of different ways. I am excited and proud to be given this responsibility- it is something I don’t take lightly and I will work diligently to prove that this is so. I have a lot planned and am eager to start work, if only finals were just a fleeting memory, which unfortunately they’re not.
Get set for a year to be remembered. The legacies we leave are determined by our will to keep working, our fight for what we believe to be best, and our actions that result in slow or expedited change. I am happy and grateful that you are all along for the ride.
